Process and timeline

From the moment you book to the moment the chef says hello.

  1. When you book

    Hold your date

A $250 deposit reserves the date and comes off the total in full. Dates 2 weeks out book instantly; sooner than that, ask and we can often expedite.

  2. Within a day

Your event planner gets in touch

Every event gets a dedicated planner, at no cost. They shape it around your team — the menu, the timings, dietary needs, and the parts that make it yours.

    • Free customization of the menu and the run of show
    • Free engagement games to open or close the session
    • Extra cheers, toasts and shout-outs for birthdays, wins and farewells
    • Dietary adjustments for anyone who needs them
  3. A week before

    Your shopping list arrives

Suggestions rather than a fixed list, so everyone can work with what is already in their kitchen. Bring your own produce, jars and whatever else you fancy putting up.

  4. Event day

Everyone joins and the chef takes it from there

One link, no software to install. Your planner is on hand in the background if anything needs sorting mid-event.

Agenda / Run of show

A breakdown of how the 60 min runs.

  1. 0:00 – 0:07

Welcome & what's in front of you

Meet your host and lay out the tasting in the order you'll work through it.

  2. 0:07 – 0:19

    How to taste

Look, smell, taste — the vocabulary that makes the differences obvious.

  3. 0:19 – 0:43

    The flight

Work through each one together, comparing notes as a group.

  4. 0:43 – 0:53

    Pairings & favourites

What to eat and drink alongside, and a vote on the room's favourite.

  5. 0:53 – 1:00

    Q&A & group photo

Where to buy them, how to store them, and the team photo.

How to join

Default video platform

Zoom

  • Your event planner sends the Zoom link with your confirmation, and again the day before.
  • Prefer Microsoft Teams or Google Meet? Say so when you book and your host will run it there instead.
  • No account or download needed for guests — the link opens in a browser.

Things you'll need

Everything else is in the box we ship to each guest.

To join

  • A laptop or tablet with a camera
  • A stable internet connection
  • Somewhere to prop the screen where you cook

At your table

  • A plate or board to lay the tasting out
  • A glass of water to reset your palate
  • A napkin

Bring your own

Nothing ships — you bring the ingredients

Shopping list
Sent ahead of the session, with suggestions rather than a fixed list — the point is to use what you already have.
Equipment
Whatever you cook with at home. Nothing specialised is needed.
Lead time
Short, and that is the advantage: with nothing to ship, this one can still make a date the others cannot.
Instant booking
Available for events at least 2 weeks out. Sooner than that, ask us — we can often expedite.

What guests said about this experience

Verified guest

As someone working toward becoming a chef, I joined the Unusual Flavors workshop to strengthen the creativity and presentation skills that also matter in the kitchen. Chef Emily broke the experience into clear, purposeful steps, and I left with fresh ideas and more confidence in my ability to guide a process from start to finish. I left motivated to keep developing my skills. The explanations helped me understand the process, not just copy it.

Chef Emily made the Unusual Flavors workshop lively and approachable, and everyone on our team had a great time learning together without the experience ever feeling too technical. It was an easy experience to recommend afterward. The whole group stayed involved throughout. Between activities, Jessica, our Zoom facilitator, ran light team-building games that helped everyone connect.

Sofia

We chose the Unusual Flavors workshop for a team event and it was a great fit. Chef Emily balanced useful tips with plenty of personality, so the session felt interactive instead of like a lecture. Everyone stayed engaged, learned something new, and had fun together. We were still talking about the experience afterward.

Owen

Chef Emily brought positive energy to the Unusual Flavors workshop and kept everything easy to follow from start to finish. She explained each step clearly and made sure everyone felt comfortable joining in and asking questions. The Whole Foods ingredients arrived fresh and helped the recipe come together beautifully.
